SECURITY BREACH CLOSES PORTION OF CINCINNATI AIRPORT
March 28, 2005

Authorities temporarily closed a portion of Cincinnati’s main airport on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, after a passenger cleared a security checkpoint with what appeared to be a gun in a carry-on bag. According to Christopher White, a Transportation Security Administration spokesperson, baggage screeners noticed an X-ray image that resembled a gun after the passenger had collected the bag and left the checkpoint. Officials had to close part of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport for about two hours while a search was conducted for the passenger and the weapon, though neither was found.
